Traces of Cocaine and Other Drugs Found in Water Supply

Eagle Water can help clean your drinking water.

Drinking water in parts of southern Ontario contains traces of several illegal drugs including cocaine, morphine and oxycodone.

Water discharged from waste-water treatment plants in the Grand River watershed has the potential to contaminate sources of drinking water with the drugs.

The drugs are found only in relatively limited quantities in the river water.

Their concentration did not decline with distance downstream from the waste-water treatment plant and many of the drugs were not removed completely during drinking-water treatment.

Improving waste-water treatment processes can help clean up drinking water.

The next stage in research will be a five-year project to look into how improvements of waste-water treatment and natural processes along rivers impact the presence of contaminants in drinking water.

Eagle Water is amazed at the drug findings in our water supplies, and not in a good way! Eagle Niagara (distributors of Eagle Water Treatment Systems) can help clean your drinking water so you can drink your water with peace of mind.
